Dear Parents/Carers,
What an unbelievable week for all the wrong reasons! In all my time here at the College I cannot recall a week of weather like it. Our premises team and staff have worked around the clock spreading grit to try to make the site safe for staff and students to return. Unfortunately, due to the split levels of the site, the sun did not reach the lower yard yesterday and the grit is still visible laying on top of the compacted ice this morning.
We will be on site on Sunday and with the combination of an increase in temperature and an army of volunteers, the site will be open next week!
Year 11 Mock Exams start on Monday. Mr Dowse has sent an update via Satchel and TEAMs please ensure your son reads and understands this message. I would strongly recommend at least 4 hours revision a day over the weekend in addition to the revision completed this week already.
Please also note that all sporting fixtures are cancelled this weekend.
Upcoming events this month:
- 13th January Yr11 Mocks begin
- 17th January Cross Country Championships (60 students involved)
- 21st January 6th Form Spanish Conference
- 26th January Battle of the Bands in Future Yard
- 27th January KS4/5 German Careers Event
- 31st January Yr10 Mental Health Challenge Event
Thank you, as always, for your support in what has been a very difficult week. Please know that the decision to close the College was not an easy one to make and is based solely on the safety of our students and staff.
Mrs Cubbin
