Dear parents and carers,
we have negotiated the wild weather of January with limited disruption, although our HOME fixtures against Kirkham GS tomorrow morning are postponed, owing to waterlogged pitches! We enjoyed some rip-roaring fixtures against King’s Macclesfield last Saturday with victories for the 2nd XV, Under 13 and Under 12 A teams. Our Senior Hockey teams both defeated Birkenhead School comfortably, with Mr Taylor nowhere to be seen!
The week starts with a new timetable for the 612 Bus from Monday. Mrs Cubbin has emailed parents accordingly. Basically, it will leave10 minutes earlier from each stop in the morning. The good news is that the bus will arrive punctually at the College each day!
Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week and this will be a focus in assemblies. Year 9 have talks on Monday from “Solutions Not Sides”, an educational charity, about the conflict in Palestine. Year 7 have their first careers event, “Meet the Employers” on Tuesday morning and our Year 11 Hockey Team play in the North West finals the same day.
On Thursday we have Year 10 Parents Evening from 5-8pm. Please report to Reception on arrival.
Our Sierra Leone Immersion Retreat departs on Monday 12th February. We continue to collect Premier League football shirts to take there as gifts. They have to be clean, but do not need to be new. They will be a source of great joy and pride for our hosts, including the children of St. Joseph’s School in Makeni.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday on 14th February and the Junior SVP have arranged a Key Stage 3 Sponsored Run, so you might be approached to sponsor a runner from your son’s Form!
Finally, congratulations to our resident journalist Calum Jones in Year 10 who has had his first piece published, in the Wirral Globe. He will be interviewing me before I escape!
I wish you and your families an enjoyable weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
