Dear parents and carers,
you will now have received news of my retirement at the end of this academic year. Thank you for the many kind messages that I have received. There is much to do before I depart!
Today is the final deadline for the submission of 6th Form Options choices by Year 11 students. Please email them to Mr Rumsby if your son has yet to do so! Year 13 Reports have been sent out to parents. Some are excellent but others require urgent attention! The Year 9 Options Evening last night went well and was very well attended.
We braved the high winds this week and all our trees are intact, but a few tiles were loosened on Wednesday, hence the scaffolding at the front of the College today. It will be removed after the weekend.
Tomorrow our rugby teams lock horns with King’s School, Macclesfield, in one of our most eagerly anticipated fixtures of the season. Our senior teams are at home at The Ridings.
There is a Key Stage 4 Poetry Live Trip on Tuesday involving many Year 10 and 11 students.
Congratulations to Year 13 students Charles Roberts (Mathematics) and Alasdair Laing (Human, Social and Political Sciences) , who have this week received offers from the University of Cambridge for next year.
We will strengthen our links with the Christian Brothers’ Mission in Sierra Leone next month when our Year 13 Immersion Retreat group departs for Freetown, our first such visit for 4 years. Mr Murray and I are leading the trip. We are collecting Premier League shirts to distribute there as they are highly prized in Sierra Leone. If you have any that you would like to donate, please send them in, clean, with your son, to be handed in at Reception.
Please remember in your prayers our former Chair of Governors, James Featherstone, who passed away this week. Jim donated several beautiful icons to the College, some of which are in the Chapel.
I wish you and your families an enjoyable weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
