Congratulations to our Junior and Intermediate Athletics Teams on winning the first round of the English School’s Cup.  

Both teams won their competitions with convincing performances against Schools from across Merseyside.

The Junior Boys team scored 451 points, beating 2nd place Rainhill (327 points) and 3rd place Wirral Grammar School (303 points).  Particular individual success included Dawid Gawel with 33.03m in the discus (27points) & 13.1s in the 80m Hurdles (24points).  Michael Phelan scored 24 points in the 1500m with a time of 4:51.4.

The Intermediate Boys team scored 466 points, beating 2nd place Wirral Grammar School (374 points) and 3rd place Rainhill (351 points). Particular individual success included Charley Horton with 1.62m in the high jump (20points) & 12.4s in the 80m Hurdles (23points).  Nathan Milton ran 12.0 in the 100m (23 points) and jumped 5.30m in the long jump (18 points).  David Umeh ran an impressive 11.8s 100m (25 points).

Both teams are now looking forwards the Regional Final Competition at Trafford.
