ST. ANSELM’S COLLEGE CURRICULUM VISION FOR MEDIA STUDIES
VISION – A highly ambitious curriculum in A Level Media Studies
To inspire and empower students to critically engage with the evolving landscape of media and communication. Through an in-depth exploration of media forms, industries, and audiences, we aim to foster an understanding of how media shapes and reflects society. We envision a future where students are not just consumers of media, but active creators and critical analysts, equipped with the skills to navigate and influence the complex media world.
INTENT – summary of the thinking behind your curriculum design and its sequencing
To provide students with the knowledge and tools needed to critically examine the role of media in both historical and contemporary contexts. We aim to develop students’ analytical skills, enabling them to deconstruct media texts, understand media language and representation, and engage with media production processes. Through engaging content and diverse assessment methods, we intend to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. We seek to prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities in the media, communication, and digital sectors, equipping them with transferable skills for higher education and beyond.
